Partnership with schools is vitally important to the Teach First National Initial Teacher Training Partnership (NITTP) and tens of thousands of pupils in the most disadvantaged areas have received an enthusiastic and hard-working teacher through Teach First.

Schools choose to work with Teach First participants for a two-year teaching commitment. In their first year, participants are trainee teachers who work towards a Postgraduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) and work a reduced timetable similar to that given to newly qualified teachers (NQTs). Participants then continue to work for a second year as NQTs, with the added benefit of having a year of full-time teaching experience in the same school.

Who do we work with?

Primary and secondary schools where more than half of pupils come from the poorest 30% of families in the UK, according to the IDACI (Income Deprivation Affecting Children Index), are eligible to partner with Teach First.

In some cases Teach First will use its discretion to explore working with schools who do not meet this criteria. Please contact one of our regional teams for more information.

University-based training partners

The Teach First Initial Teacher Training Programme is delivered by 14 higher education institutions across five regions: East Midlands, London, North West, West Midlands and Yorkshire and the Humber

Each region has one or more dedicated Regional Training Providers (RTPs) that support the participants during the Regional and National Summer Institute and throughout the first year as they work towards their PGCE.
