A level results reason to celebrate for one London pupil
16 August 2012
It was a nervous morning around the country today as thousands of pupils received their much anticipated A and AS level results. Year 13 pupil Haengeun Chi has reason to celebrate – she scooped three A*s and one A in her A levels.
Haengeun, from Fulham, attends Teach First partner school Burlington Danes Academy and is also a mentee on our Higher Education Access Programme for Schools (HEAPS). The programme matches pupils with mentors who help equip them with the information and inspiration they need to make informed decisions about their future.
She said: “I’m so glad to have a positive result after all the hard work. In one maths module I actually got 100% so I’m really shocked and really happy! I’m really thankful to all my friends, family, and teachers, including my Teach First teachers. I could not have got there without all that support. I’ll be celebrating with my family tonight!”
Haengeun has been offered a place at Imperial University, where she will study mathematics from October. “I know it’s still early days but at this stage I want to continue to study at post-graduate level, and one day be a professor of mathematics.”
81% of all Year 13 grades this year at Burlington Danes Academy were A-C, up from 68% last year.
