Brett Nottingham

Following the success of his event in Manchester, our CEO and Founder Brett Wigdortz, brought his book launch tour to the University of Nottingham last Tuesday. Brett was joined by a panel of business leaders and inspirational people to share their own stories of their “success against the odds”, along with Brett’s own thoughts on leadership and passages from his fantastic book about his Teach First journey.

Despite the recollection shared in Brett’s book of an early graduate recruitment talk at University of Nottingham, which drew a crowd of eight people (six of whom were there for the free snacks), the room was full of interested people from all areas of university life, from physics students to SU officers. The audience was entertained by the fantastic hosting skills of James Townsend, 2011 -12 Participant President, as well as the leadership panel of; Mark Blois, Bryan Steel and Imogen O’Mahony – leading lawyers, Olympic medallists and PwC recruiters.

The Q&A session which followed was lively and engaging, with several of Brett’s comments and anecdotes leaving the audience in hysterics. It was an inspirational evening, topped off by several members of the audience deciding to apply to the LDP….. and of course lots of books being sold to spread the Teach First word even further!  Brett tweeted after the event “On leadership panel at U Nottingham w Bryan Steel. Put in place when he whipped out his medals. He hated school but someone believed in him”.
