Addressing the STEM Challenge

Addressing the STEM Challenge

This report gives an overview of the Teach First STEM Undergraduate Research Study carried out in June 2011. The UK is facing a significant challenge created by the lack of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) graduates entering key professions. Teach First believes that a shortage of STEM teachers is a contributing factor. To learn more about what can be done to address the STEM challenge, Teach First have collaborated with a number of prestigious STEM organisations including the Gatsby Charitable Foundation, the Ogden Trust, the Institution of Engineering and Technology, the Institute of Physics, the Royal Society, and the Wellcome Trust. These STEM partners have been instrumental in shaping the direction of this study.

educational-disadvantage

Peter Dale, Former Trustee of Teach First and the City Parochial Foundation
