Teach First Awards 2010

Award Categories

The Teach First Awards recognise individuals who make outstanding contributions to addressing educational disadvantage. There 2010 Teach First Awards are listed below.

The Excellence Award

Teach First is a demanding programme and participants need to be committed to excellence throughout the two year programme. The Excellence Award recognises participants who are outstanding in their curriculum area.

There are three Award categories:

  1. The Garnett Excellence for Science, Maths, ICT or DT
  2. The Laura Howard Excellence for History, English, Geography, Music, Art, or Business
  3. Primary Excellence

Eligibility: Teach First participants teaching any curriculum area.

Learmonth 'Supporting participants' Award

Teach First participants are supported during their two years of the Teach First Leadership Programme by a range of individuals. The Learmonth 'Supporting participants' Award recognises that the programme could not exist without the individuals who support our participants.

Eligibility: Professional Mentors, Subject Mentors, Primary Language Specialist tutors, University tutor and Coaches.

Teach First Ambassador Awards

Beyond the two-year Programme, Teach First works to empower, equip and mobilise all Ambassadors (alumni) to support the Teach First Mission by driving forward sustainable change in education from both inside and outside the classroom.

  1. Teach On Award

    Eligibility: Teach First Ambassadors currently working in a school as a classroom teacher or member of the school leadership team.

  2. Beyond the Classroom Award

    Eligibility: Teach First Ambassadors who are no longer teachers but are addressing educational disadvantage through their job or an activity.

We are delighted to be working with the National Teaching Awards. In association with the National Teaching Awards, any teacher with QTS nominated to the Teach First Awards will be automatically be nominated to the National Teaching Awards.

All Award finalists will be invited to the Teach First Awards event in June 2010.
