Prince of Wales becomes Patron of Teach First

On Tuesday July 15th, His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales visited Teach First at Bethnal Green Technology College.  The event was attended by over 100 guests, drawn from the fields of business and education throughout the UK.

HRH met the nine Teach First teachers at Bethnal Green Technology College, and a group of senior business leaders who support Teach First.  After being served a cup of tea by the ‘Butterfly Bistro’ silver service waiters (students at the school), HRH joined a VIP reception in the school hall.

Students from the school delivered a heart-rending ‘fairy tale’ of the ‘school that lost its way’ but was rescued by strong leadership and a belief in its students, before HRH announced that he would be becoming Patron of Teach First, highlighting the crucial role that ‘outstanding teachers’ can play in transforming students’ lives.

HRH was greeted with great enthusiasm by the hundreds of students who were waiting outside the school as the afternoon drew to a close.
