Expectations of Participants Teach First expects that its participants will fulfil their two-year commitment to the schools in which they teach. We also expect all participants to gain QTS by the end of their first year teaching. Finally, we expect that our participants will utilise the support networks they have along with their skills and talents to go "above and beyond" during their time in teaching.
Expectations of Schools Teach First also has expectations for participating schools. Teach First only works with schools that meet its criteria, including a minimum of 30 percent of pupils receiving free school meals and that the school is not in special measures. |
In addition to meeting criteria for free school meals, Teach First also expects that schools will be willing to fulfill the obligations to train the Teach First participants. These obligations include but are not limited to:
- allowing Teach First participants to attend 6 days of subject training during school time
- allowing Teach First participants to teach a timetable no heavier than that given to a newly qualified teacher
- allowing Teach First participants to spend the required days in a second school experience
