Your School and Team As a Teach First participant, you will be part of many teams. In your first year, you will be considered "unqualified," meaning that you do not have qualified teacher status (QTS). Although you will be teaching a reduced time table and receiving extra support because of this, you will still be considered a full-time teacher.
In the classroom you will be responsible for the education of pupils just like any of the other teaching staff. You will work within your subject department, your year group(s), and other groups in your school as any educator does. |
School Clustering Teach First makes every effort to place you in a school with other participants so that you can support each other throughout your unique experience on the programme. Additionally, you will be grouped into a "collegiate" with other participants in your geographic area.
You will also gather for informal and formal support with your Subject Studies groups and Critical Friends Groups (CFGs) throughout the year. Specifically you will have 6 days of subject training during which you meet with a tutor and the other Teach First subject specialists in your area to learn new teaching methods, strategies, and to share ideas. In CFGs, which are led by second-year participants and recent ambassadors, you will meet with others to share ideas, resources, and strategies for improving your practice.
