Teach First Staff

The East Midlands Office

Teach First have been placing participants in the East Midlands since 2007 and there are currently over 40 participants and Ambassadors teaching in the region. We currently place participants in Leicester, Derby, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. The East Midlands team is responsible for the placement of participants in schools that can really benefit from them; we also support the leadership development of current participants. We work closely with local supporters and partners to ensure the programme is of a consistently high quality.

Matt is excited to be part of the Midlands Teach First team. He taught in London for four years as a Teach First participant (’04), focussing on English and then Politics, while also working as the school’s community development officer. Prior to teaching Matt took a masters in International Studies at SOAS and worked in London at the Telegraph newspaper and in Parliament as reseracher for two MPs. Having finished his BA in English at Newcastle, Matt made the foolhardy trip to Japan where he taught in rural Hokkaido for two years on the Jet Programme. He originally hails from Leicester and is happy to be almost home.
