Education matters to society.

It is linked to happiness, mental and physical health, life expectancy, crime rates and the economy. If you had the opportunity to make a difference to education, what would you change?

Teach First works in partnership to ensure that no child’s educational success is limited by their socio-economic background. As part of our 10th Anniversary year, we are keen to hear from current students about what they think of education in the UK and how it could be changed for the better to help us achieve our vision.

Our national competition What Would You Change? is your chance to have your say and turn your ideas into actions. The prize includes a three week internship with Teach First.

Smaller classes? Abolish SATs? Introduce a reward scheme?

We’re looking for thought provoking and creative suggestions that answer the question what would you change about education in the UK?

If you think you have a suggestion for how to change the education of young people across the UK, entries can be made by submitting either:

• A written entry no more than 500 words in length
• A visual representation of your idea in video format no more than 4 minutes long.

Video entries should be made by submitting a written link to your video hosted on a video sharing website such as Vimeo or YouTube.
All entries should outline your idea, why the change is needed and how it could be implemented.

The competition is open for entries between 27 January and 5 March 2012.

All entries will be reviewed by our high profile judging panel and two winners will be selected, one for students enrolled in Further Education and one for students enrolled in Higher Education.
The prize includes:

• *A three week internship with the UK education charity, Teach First. Working with our Press, Ambassador and Strategy Teams, you will get an insight into the work that we do, have a chance to make a real impact on the future of education and develop transferable skills. The internship will take place from 18 June - 3 July
• An iPad

The judging panel will also select a number of shortlisted entries. All winners and shortlisted entrants will be invited to an awards ceremony hosted by Teach First to recognise their contributions to the discussion on educational policy.

Highly commended entries will be featured throughout our 10th anniversary celebrations.

The Further Education student will be paid their travel/accommodation/daily expenses paid

*The winning student in Higher Education will be paid the London Living Allowance of £8.30 per hour and will work a 35 hour week. In total they will be paid £871.50 and all expenses will be covered.
