121 Meeting for professionals interested in teaching: Maths, Science, Geography & MFL - London and South East South Coast

121 Meeting for professionals interested in teaching: Maths, Science, Geography & MFL - London and South East South Coast

Among developed countries, the UK has one of the worst rates of educational inequality. We believe your background should not dictate your destiny, and that everybody should have an equal chance to succeed. Our Leadership Development Programme places talented and committed people into classrooms where they are needed the most, to help end this injustice.

The subjects that are most in demand are Maths, Science and Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) - 62% of low-income pupils fail to achieve an A*- C Science GCSE.

If you hold a STEM, French or Spanish-related degree you may qualify to teach one of these subjects.

You can also teach Maths and Science from your A-Levels or equivalent if it is grade B or above. You can complete a subject knowledge enhancement course (SKE) before you start teaching in September to boost both your finances and subject expertise.

If you are considering teaching Science, Geography, Modern Foreign Languages or Maths, meet one-to-one with a Teach First recruiter to find out more about how Teach First can help you move into a fulfilling and challenging career, and support you in developing your subject knowledge to teach it.

The Leadership Development Programme offers:

  • Salary from September 2020
  • a fully-funded and salaried route into teaching, including an internationally recognised Postgraduate Diploma in Education and Leadership (PGDE), worth double the credits of a PGCE
  • classroom-based training leading to your Qualified Teacher Status
  • three dedicated support links – professional mentor (school), academic tutor (university) & one-to-one coaching (Teach First)

To find out more about how Teach First can help you move into a fulfilling and challenging career, sign up for a 121 meeting or contact Sam Graham on sgraham@teachfirst.org.uk for more information.

Please note these appointments are exclusively for professionals who have left university. There are also eligibility criteria you will need to meet in order to gain a place on our programme. We strongly advise you check the teaching requirements on our website before you sign up to an appointment.
