Teach First statement on Social Mobility Commission state of the nation report

Commenting on the Social Mobility Commission’s annual state of the nation report, Brett Wigdortz OBE, Founder and CEO of Teach First said:

“The report highlights the worrying divide between communities succeeding and those ‘left behind’. But we know what is possible. In the last 15 years, educational outcomes in London have been radically transformed, driving forward social mobility. We know this potential lies in every part of the country.”
“Giving all children a world-class education is the foundation of promoting social mobility. If we work collaboratively – with government, businesses, schools and local communities – we can tackle these problems. The government’s focus on ‘opportunities areas’ in education is a welcome step in the right direction and we’re keen to support in scaling up these efforts.”
