So your Just Giving page is live and your fundraising goal is set, what next? Trying to think of different way to fundraise can seem like a real slog. So we’ve pulled together some innovative ideas to get the ball rolling.
1. Golden egg hunt
Hide a bunch of chocolate eggs in a garden or local park, including one coveted golden egg. The winner is the team or individual who finds the prized golden egg!
2. Tape-a-celebrity
Ok, so it doesn't have to be a 'celebrity' - just a well-known local that the community is aware of. It could even be a school headteacher. Using strong duct-tape, which you sell to willing participants in long strips (coloured tape is best for a more visual effect). The person to be 'taped' to the wall should probably wear long trousers and a long sleeve top (we suggest they opt for old clothes they don’t mind never wearing again).
The person then will need to stand on a platform at a safe height, a sturdy chair would do. One-by-one they get 'duct-taped' to the wall by the money-making strips of tape. Once the 'celeb' has been securely taped to the wall, take away the platform and voila!
3. Speed dating
Organise a fun night for singles / friends of friends - all in the name of charity!
4. A rubber duck race
Sell some ducks (the rubber kind).
Get each racer to write their name on their duck (in waterproof ink).
Race the ducks at a pond, river, or even pool. The first to reach the 'finish line' is crowned duck racing champion.
5. Fortune-telling
Put on a silly hat and a blanket and invite your peers to have their future told by a ‘professional’ fortune-teller (that's you now).
You can instruct them that donating extra money couldn’t hurt their chances of an improve fortune.
6. The desk wash
Think of it like a car wash, but for desks...and instead of people in shorts and vests, it's Eric from accounting.
7. Compliment service
Basically, you offer £2 compliments to anyone who needs a pick-me-up. Who doesn't want to hear "Hey, nice...teeth, friend"? Nobody!
8. Caffeine free zone
Make a pact with your colleagues to go without coffee. Every sneaky flat white or lapsed americano is another step to your fundraising goal.
9. Nickname generator
Set up a small spot in your school or office for people to pay and collect their own custom-made nicknames.
For a small donation, you'll create a super-cool nickname for traditionally boring people. Like "Mad Max" — that's a cool name. Who wouldn't want to be called Mad Max?
