2024 Gender Pay Gap Report
At Teach First, we are committed to fair and competitive pay for all employees, regardless of gender, and to building a diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace.
As of April 2024, our median gender pay gap stands at 1.08%, a small decrease from last year’s 1.10%. Our mean gender pay gap has increased from -2.52% to 4.48%, largely due to a decline in female representation in our upper pay quartile. Women make up 73% of our workforce, with strong representation at all levels, including 60% of our Executive Leadership Team. Shifts in gender distribution across pay quartiles have influenced this year’s results, and we remain focused on achieving greater gender balance at every level.
Closing the gap requires action. We have continued to strengthen inclusive recruitment practices, introduced non-negotiable starting salaries for transparency, and expanded flexible and family-friendly policies – including enhanced paternity leave and support for shared parental leave. We are also committed to publishing wider pay gap data, including ethnicity and socio-economic background, to provide a fuller picture of equity within our organisation.
While government reporting currently only recognises binary gender categories, we record and analyse pay data for all employees regardless of gender identity, and advocate for more inclusive reporting. We will continue to monitor trends, address underrepresentation where it occurs, and ensure that our pay and progression policies support fairness for all.
