Preparation

No advance preparation is required. If you would like to familiarise yourself with the assessment format, you will have the option of completing a practice task in the preliminary section of the assessment. You can also complete a practice task here to get an idea of the format. If you require a reasonable adjustment, please read the additional information in your invitation email and reach out via the support email provided before you begin the assessment, as adjustments cannot be applied retrospectively.

During the assessment

The assessment can be completed on desktop, mobile, or tablet. Please make sure you have a strong, stable internet connection and are using the latest version of your chosen internet browser. We recommend completing the assessment in a quiet, distraction-free environment so you can focus on the information. Instructions are provided ahead of each task which you can revisit if needed - please read these carefully so you know what’s expected. There are no right or wrong answers, so we encourage you to approach the tasks in a way that feels most natural to you. Please expect to set aside anywhere between 15-50 minutes to complete the assessment. The completion time varies based on how many tasks are included in your assessment - you will see an estimated time on your assessment invite. Depending on the role you apply for, the first 1-2 tasks in the assessment may also be timed. You will be able to take breaks between each task.

After

Upon completing the assessment, you will receive a personalised feedback report providing you with insights into your unique psychological characteristics and how your responses translate into real-world scenarios. We will be in touch soon after to update you on the status of your application.

Key candidate FAQs

Who are Arctic Shores?

Arctic Shores is a psychometric assessment company founded in 2015 whose mission is to give every individual the opportunity to show their potential, and every employer the means to see it. They do this by pioneering a new way to measure candidates’ behaviours and skills - called task-based assessments.

What is a task-based assessment?

Unlike a question-based psychometric assessment, the Arctic Shores task-based assessment consists of a series of interactive tasks. As you complete each task, thousands of data points are captured that provide insight into your natural behaviours. This gives you the opportunity to show us your true potential whilst enjoying an engaging experience, and provides us with a richer picture of how you'll suit our roles and culture. It also counters subconscious bias in the selection process, giving each candidate a fair shot to stand out.

What do the tasks in the assessment measure?

Each task in the Arctic Shores is based on established experiments from the field of cognitive neuroscience and captures directly observable evidence of various key behaviours that are important for workplace success. While the tasks are purposely designed to conceal exactly what they measure, there is no right or wrong way to approach them, so we encourage you to complete each task in the way that feels most natural to you. Once you’ve completed the assessment, you can rest assured that the results we see will be a fair, relevant, and accurate portrayal of your unique potential.

Why have you partnered with Arctic Shores?

We've partnered with Arctic Shores to recruit exceptional candidates and provide an outstanding experience. The Arctic Shores assessment helps us define what success looks like in our roles by comparing each candidate to the key behaviours needed for high performance. This ensures a fair, objective, and consistent prediction of potential. Arctic Shores also supports our diversity and inclusion goals, while keeping the process engaging for candidates and efficient for our talent acquisition teams.

How will my assessment results be used in the hiring process?

The assessment is designed to help us see beyond your CV. Your results will give us a better understanding of how you’ll fit the role and our company culture and how you would typically behave in a workplace environment. Once you’ve completed the assessment, your results will be compared to a “norm group” of similar individuals. Placing your results in this wider representative context helps us accurately understand how you compare to others and aids our decision on which candidates are likely to be best suited for the role.

What should I do if I have a disability that might affect my performance?

The assessment is designed to be fair and inclusive for all candidates. If you have a disability, you can request a reasonable adjustment by contacting the support email in your assessment invitation. Please do this before starting the assessment, as reasonable adjustments cannot be applied retrospectively, and provide as much information as you’re comfortable with so we can ensure the most appropriate adjustment is applied, as these will vary depending on your disability or neurodiversity. All available reasonable adjustments are based on scientific research and best practice standards.

Do I need to retake the assessment if I’ve done it before?

If you completed the assessment in the past 12 months, you can reuse your prior application or retake the full assessment. Your prior assessment data is likely to remain a good reflection of your potential and will be re-calibrated against the new role's criteria to ensure an accurate result. Note that you may still need to complete some tasks even if you reuse your prior application, due to occasional changes in the assessment. If you have taken the assessment multiple times in the last 12 months, your most recent score will be used.
