Sharing your time and experience by volunteering with Teach First can help to unlock the potential in teachers and children across the country.

  • Be part of the wider Teach First community.
  • Develop new skills.
  • Build key relationships for your career.
  • Share your expertise and knowledge.
  • Gain valuable experience by helping others to develop professionally.
  • Make a difference where it's needed most.
Volunteers are vital to our work. Whether you’re a Teach First ambassador, an employee from one our partner organisations, or are simply looking to make a difference, there are lots of opportunities for you to share your expertise and help build a fair education for all. How will you get involved?

Volunteer as an ambassador

As an ambassador, your commitment to our mission will improve the lives of thousands of children. There are lots of great ways for you to get involved:

Volunteer with a school in your community

Even if you don’t teach any more, give some of your time and volunteer with a school. It’s a great way to stay connected with education. And you’ll be helping to unlock the potential in young people

Help us to fundraise so that we can continue our work

There are countless ways you can fundraise for us. And any contribution you can make will help transform the lives of the UK’s poorest children.

Offer one-to-one support

Your support can be crucial in helping our trainees and others on our programmes develop into talented teachers and leaders. It’s a great way to share your expertise and help others to grow professionally. Register your interest using the forms below.

Share your story and inspire others

Tell others about your experience in education and your words will inspire. Speak at Teach First events, motivate our supporters, or talk to young people.

Host a school visit

Invite pupils to your workplace and open their eyes to careers they may have never considered before. It’s a great opportunity to give them a new perspective and inspire them to aim high.

Become a school governor

School governors play a vital role in schools. Volunteering as a governor is a fantastic way to develop leadership skills, gain insight into school management and network with leaders in the field.

Interested? There are a few ways to get started on your journey to becoming a school governor:

  1. To join a supportive network for governors get in touch with Asima Lone, our School Leader network connector, at alone@teachfirst.org.uk.
  2. When you’re ready to make the next step, you can get further support from Governors for Schools, who have helped hundreds of ambassadors to become governors.

Volunteer through your business

By partnering with us, you can unlock exclusive volunteering opportunities. As one our generous philanthropic supporters or an employee of one of our partner organisations, you’re perfectly placed to champion the Teach First mission within your business and share your sector expertise to develop talented teachers and leaders. You’ll also develop your own skills along the way.

Here’s how you can get involved as a volunteer in business:

Offer one-to-one support

You can lend your business expertise to support our trainees into talented teachers and leaders.

One of the benefits of partnering with Teach First is priority access to our Coaching programme. You’ll support teachers and school leaders, while developing your own skills as a coach.

Interact with schools

Volunteer directly with pupils through school engagement activities exclusive to supporters of Teach First. You’ll show pupils the career routes available in your company and industry and inspire them to aim high.

Whether it’s delivering a session to a classroom or running a workshop specific to your industry, you’ll unlock potential whilst building your own skills.

Galvanise your colleagues

Take the lead on involving your colleagues in the partnership between your organisation and Teach First. This could mean drumming up volunteers for an activity or sharing your own volunteer experience to encourage others. You'll build your own network and increase employee engagement.

Not sure if your organisation is a partner of Teach First?

See our list of Trust and Foundation and Corporate partners and the relevant contact details if you think your organisation could support us.

You can also support our work by fundraising for us. We’ll cheer you on the whole way.
