Change your future and theirs
The UK is in desperate need of more maths teachers. There have been shortages since 2012, and severe shortages since 2016.
This situation affects some children worse than others. Our research shows that a child from a disadvantaged background is 18 months behind on average when they take their GCSEs.
If current shortages continue then countless children will be denied the solid grounding in maths that will help them get ahead in the workplace when they leave school.

One reason I wanted to be a maths teacher was because I found maths quite challenging at school, I used to get frustrated and just want to stop. There's quite a few [pupils] where I can see a little bit of myself in them, and I think 'just keep going.'
Could you be the teacher they need?
Demand for qualified maths teachers continues to rise, and pupil numbers in secondary schools are expected to be 15% higher by 2025. Currently this demand is not being met, and children in the poorest areas are already not receiving the maths education that they need and deserve.
Your maths knowledge could transform the futures of children who might otherwise enter the adult world without vital numeracy skills. By joining the Training Programme, you'll also transform your own future and you'll be supported every step of the way.
